History
All Chiassons in our region are descendants of two brothers, Paul and Jean, sons of Jacques Chiasson and Marie-Joseph Arsenault. Paul was born in 1727 and Jean in 1740, and married two Boudreau sisters. Then came 1755 and the deportation of the Acadians, followed by the Seven Years' War. Paul and Jean escaped and were taken prisoner in Halifax on Georges Island, before finally settling in Chéticamp. Paul was one of fourteen petitioners for the 7,000 arpents of land signed over to Acadian families in 1790.d
