History
The Deveau name is deeply rooted in the Chéticamp area. It seems that there were only two Deveau families in the area, Augustin and Joseph, and both had considerable descendants. They were cousins, so all our Deveau (Desveau, Deveaux, DeVeaux et al.) from the Chéticamp, Saint Joseph du Moine and Margaree areas trace back to a common ancestor.
