History
The Fiset name became part of Chéticamp's story in 1875, when Father Pierre Fiset, who had been serving Havre-à-Boucher for 10 years, became parish priest of Chéticamp. Upon his arrival, he invited his brother, Dr. Napoléon Fiset, who practiced in Arichat, to settle in the area. The Fisets were originally from Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, and were the sons of Joseph Fiset, a farmer, and Marie-Adélaïde Gauthier. Dr. Napoléon and his wife, Maria Forêt, an Acadian from Arichat, became the ancestors of all the Fisets in Chéticamp.
