History
The very first Poirier to come to Acadia was Jéhan (ditJean) Poirier. All the Poiriers are descendants of Adrien (dit André) Poirier or Raymond Poirier, both of whom were among the pioneers of Chéticamp. Raymond Poirier was one of fourteen petitioners for the 7,000 arpents of land signed over to Acadian families in 1790.
